Stimulus package: What it means to you

Electronics manufacturers stand to benefit from a number of provisions in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, or the economic stimulus bill. "The bill has a lot of aspects that are designed to help many businesses, including printed circuit board and electronics assembly manufacturers," says Ron Chamrin, manager for IPC government relations. “The tax incentives and manufacturing recovery provisions can significantly help the electronic interconnect industry through today’s tough economic times.

In addition to the programs and funding available, three aspects of the stimulus package can benefit PCB manufacturers and OEMs: bonus depreciation, net operating loss relief and industrial development bonds.
